My Miniblog
In the life of a writer sometimes lots of things happen all at once (and sometimes nothing happens at all). Here is my mini blog: I jot down my thoughts whenever I get a free minute.
Royal Jubilee
Over 500 people came to our celebration of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee at grove Park Library on June 2nd. It was opened by the Mayor and MP - and was organised by the Councillors and officers of Lewisham Council. The weather was fine (it was held on June 2nd) and everyone enjoyed themselves.
The Night of the Soul
We are used to thinking of God as light. On Tuesday 12th June I attended a session on suffering that reversed this idea. We know from Fantasy authors about the idea of God being the god of darkness. I did not know it was also a Christian idea. However, it makes a lot of sense. We can get much closer to God when we are undisturbed by others - and darkness can be both a source of pain and fear and a source of comfort and relief.
Book of Remembrance
Over 150 men and women died in Lee during World war One and Two. Each of them has a page dedicated to his or her live in the Church of the Good Shepherd, Lee, with details of their lives and careers. This is available for students to study if you wish. I spent six months working on this in 2014 together with recommissioning a war memorial to the dead of World wqar 1 which was destroyed during the Second World War when the church was burnt down in an air raid.

We are currently working on a big celebration to mark the 90th anniversary of the building of the Downham Estate and the visit of King George V, which will be held next summer (2016).<< New text box >>
