I was born in 1946 in Surrey, England. On leaving school, I went to Durham University, where I gained a BA in Theology. I then trained as a teacher, and taught in schools in Durham, Kent, Zambia, Nigeria, Enfield, Lewisham and Hackney. My main subject was RE, and I became an examiner in Religious Education. I took an MA and then an MPhil at Lancaster, and was elected to lewisham Council in 1998, becoming leader of the Conservative Group of Councillors between 2006 and 2010. In 2012 I joined the Labour Party and was re elected to the Council in 2014. I am married with three children, all university graduates, from various universities. I am also a reader in the Church of England. I retired from teaching in 2010 and visited Nigeria, Egypt, Petra, China, Hong Kong and Peru as part of my retirement celebrations. I have published three books - A Life in Education (a commentary on modern British education); They Thought They Were Gods ( a novel about the Spanish conquest of Peru) and Shadow of the Cross (a radical rewriting of the life of Jesus in novel form).I have also published a sequel to They Thought They Were Gods called A Dream Dies (the story of the end of the Inca dream) and The Incidental Joker (a novel about the corruption of power in a primary school in England). Further works include two parts of a Trilogy called The Utorian Wars Chronicles - Invasion and Uruk's War. The third part - The Three Hundred will be published in about 6 months. Siege!
